Anodyne Red at ISU

Tonight Joanna & I drove to Pocatello (1 hr away) to see Eric's Band - Anodyne Red - play at Idaho State University on the Hutchinson Quad in front of the Idaho Museum of Natural History. His band opened for a musician named Carey Judd from Moose, Wyoming, near Jackson.

Randy, Derek, & Eric playing & singing & having a Great Time!

Here is Carey Judd. He just got a record deal so you probably will be hearing more of him. He was a one man band. He played the harmonica and had equipment to help him sing differently and play different things all at once. Here he decided to get close to his audience & sing. Everyone was sitting way back from the stage.

We had a nice time at the concert. Going to a free concert is great!

Trials & Experiences

"All intelligent beings who are crowned with crowns of glory, immortality, and eternal lives must pass through every ordeal appointed for intelligent beings to pass through, to gain their glory and exaltation. . . . to prepare them to enjoy the presence of the Lord. If we obtain the glory that Abraham obtained, we must do so by the same means he did. If we are ever prepared to enjoy the society of Enoch, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob . . . we must pass through the same experience, and gain the knowledge, intelligence, and endowments that will prepare us to enter into the celestial kingdom of our Father and God. . . . Every trial and experience you have passed through is necessary for your salvation" (Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 345).

Now when I go through each day and as I go through each trial and experience I will say to myself, "This is necessary for my salvation." Maybe it will help me smile, be happy, and be more kind. After all it is for my salvation!

Bowe Bergdahl from Haley, Idaho

Did you hear about the soldier who was captured in Afghanistan? His name is Bowe Bergdahl from Haley, Idaho. Please keep him in your prayers! There were yellow ribbons everywhere in Haley which is 12 miles before Sun Valley. Barry is standing in a pic taken in Sun Valley.

Swan Valley at Sun Valley

These swans were in a pond right in front of our hotel - Sun Valley Lodge. We asked the doorman why they stayed here. They said because they got fed. I guess that's a pretty good reason! See the baby Swan?

Sun Valley Ice Show

We've been going to Sun Valley many years for the Idaho Medical Association Meetings and this is the first time we have seen the Ice Show. It was great! Many skaters who were Bronze and Silver Medalists, US Medalists, a European Medalist, etc. These were some very young skaters who performed in the 'cow' outfits. They were sooo cute!

Here is Viktor Petrenko. He was of course amazing. But the other skaters were amazing as well. One couple, Melissa Gregory & Denis Petukhov were our favorite. He scared everyone though, because as he would twirl around Melissa her face got so near to the ice the audience thought she was going to slam her face! It was unbelievable! This pic is very blurry! Sorry. The show doesn't start until dark.

Viktor Petrenko with a fan.

Viktor Petrenko signing our program.

The show began at around 9:30 p.m. It was held at the ice rink right behind our hotel. We opted to not sit in the bleachers, because bleachers are very uncomfortable. For $10.00 a piece more we got to sit on a covered patio in a regular chair and eat treats to our hearts' content. It was a great experience to see a real ice show. They were very talented.

Bald Mountain - Sun Valley, Idaho

Barry stands just before Bald Mountain in Idaho.

It takes 25 minutes and $15.00 a piece to take the ski lift up Bald Mountain.

On the way we saw the 'Snow Makers'. If the ski resort doesn't get enough snow, the resort makes it!

Here is little Miss Deer chomping her way up Bald Mountain.

A weird kind of tree we encountered on the way up.

We made it to the top and had a beautiful view of Sun Valley, Ketchum and the Mountains.

The view on 'The Other Side of the Mountain'.

People actually ride their bikes up Bald Mountain. They must be in great shape!

Down on the ground. This is a picture of what is going to be the site of the new gondolas that are set to open this winter. Instead of 25 minutes to the top - the gondolas will get you to the top in 8 minutes! I'm sure it will be more than $15.00 per person!

Barry crossing the Big Wood River.

We enjoyed our time at Bald Mountain. It reminds us of the gondola rides we took in Europe. It was gorgeous!
